Unique Mother’s Day Gifts She’ll Love and Never Forget

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas: 2021 Edition

How do you say “thank you” to the woman who has given you her unconditional love and support? It’s time to show mom how much you appreciate her, so we came up with five unique Mother’s Day gift ideas she is guaranteed to love.

Frame a Happy Memory

Whether it’s a cute baby pic, a snap from a favorite family vacation, or a vintage photo of grandma and grandpa, a custom-framed family photo makes a truly meaningful present. You are giving the gift of a cherished memory and lovely home decor all in one! When choosing picture frame options, think about what the photo looks like and mom’s decor style so you can pick choices that complement both.

Not sure where to start? We offer free in-shop consultations to help you create a custom frame she’s sure to love.

Give Handmade Art

Nothing will bring a smile to mom’s face like handmade artwork made just for her! Finger painting, crayon drawings, the latest glue project from school are just a few ideas. Do you have a crafty family and can’t decide which work of art you like best? We have picture frames that can store up to 50 kids’ masterpieces and take just a second to change exactly which one is on display. They are specifically designed for letter size or construction size paper and come ready to hang or display on a counter. If you live in the Austin area, visit us at FastFrame & The Westlake Gallery and check out our selection of Li’l DaVinci Art Cabinets. You can create a personalized art gallery for mom in an instant.

Buy Original Art from a Local Artist

You can buy an original work of art for mom while supporting the local Austin Art community. Every other month we change our display and feature a new up and coming local artist. 100% of all art sales go to the artist. At this time, we are featuring the work of Austin artist, Zoë Foster.

Zoe Foster | Colorado 3 | pen and watercolor, June 2020 |
a part of “Home Is Where the Heart Is”
In my series “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” the same tiny house with a red door and a smoke stack unfurling from the brick chimney appears in different environments and landscapes. This little house represents me and travels through the many places that I have been and wish to be. Peaceful, closer to nature, and never staying still. During the length of 2020, my escape from confinement and stress came through pen and watercolor artwork. Now more than ever, my heart is in the woods or along the shore underneath a sheer bluff. When I feel the need to run far away, I set my ink pen to paper and lets my hands travel to wherever my heart is.

Gift Her a Membership

Does mom love to visit beautiful places and experiences? For the mom who loves art, consider buying her an annual membership to The Contemporary Austin or the Blanton Museum. Perhaps she prefers nature, then the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Zilker Botanical Gardens, or Umlauf Sculpture Garden may interest her more.

A membership will encourage her to plan day trips and enjoy herself while supporting local, cherished institutions. Consider memberships to places you can also visit together, just make sure to keep mom’s preferences first and foremost. Experiences often make wonderful gifts!

Support a Local Non-profit

Through a special collaboration of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, photographer Bruce Leander and FastFrame & The Westlake Gallery, we have created a gorgeous framed keepsake for 2021 of the Helianthus annuus, the Common Sunflower, a Texas native.

All profits from this purchase go directly to support the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The Texas Wildflower image will be exquisitely framed highlighting its beautiful coloring with a triple mat application and using frame materials from a local Texas Company. Frame size is 16.5×16.5 inches.

The best Mother’s Day gift is one that comes from the heart. These thoughtful gift ideas are sure to make every type of mother feel loved and celebrated!
